Campingcomfort upgrade

Field note

Set it at 125° by the fire and you'll understand why the footrest matters. Pull it off when you need to sit up and actually work.

Why it made the cut

Four positions, one lever

Upright at 95° for chow, all the way to 160° for stargazing. You pick the angle without getting up.

A footrest that comes off

Zip it on for the fire, zip it off when space in the truck is tight.

Packs like a regular chair

Folds to about 35 × 8 × 8 in and rides in its own bag with a handle.

Field tips

  1. Set it on level ground before you recline all the way; the back legs carry the load at 160°.
  2. Face it away from the fire's smoke line. The wind usually shifts after dark.
  3. Wipe the 600D fabric down and let it dry before bagging it, or it'll smell like the lake next trip.
