Ruck & Rest is a small, independently run, veteran-owned shop based in Austin, Texas. I spent eight years as an infantryman, earned my Expert Infantryman Badge, and deployed to Europe and the Middle East, and I pick every product we carry the way I'd pack a ruck: basics first, then the comforts that earn their weight.
I started Ruck & Rest to bring the lessons of packing a ruck to camp gear: carry what earns its weight, take care of your people, and don't waste money on gimmicks. Every product here gets judged the way I'd judge my own kit, and if it doesn't hold up, it doesn't stay in the store.
This isn't a faceless operation. A real person reads every email and genuinely wants your order to go well. Right after you check out, you'll get an email confirming your order, and a follow-up with your tracking number as soon as it ships.
Shipping and returns
Shipping
Availability. All products and prices are offered while supplies last. Our warehouse partners restock on their own schedule, and items marked "Limited stock" or "Almost gone" can sell out. If something sells out after you order, we\'ll email you right away and refund you in full.
We currently ship within the United States only. Shipping is free. Most gear ships from US warehouses and arrives in 3–7 business days after it ships. The Ruck Kit, Chow Kit, Hunter's Kit, The Pineapple, Camp Cloak and trekking pole ship separately from our overseas partner and usually arrive in 7–12 days.
Damaged or defective items
If anything arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 14 days of delivery through , and include a photo if you can. We'll send a replacement or refund you, with no need to ship the item back.
Other returns
Our gear ships directly from partner warehouses, so we aren't able to accept change-of-mind returns. If something isn't right, contact us and we'll do what we can to help.
Changing or canceling an order
Orders begin processing quickly, so we can't always guarantee a change once it's placed. Contact us as soon as you can, and we'll do everything we're able to help.

What we collect
When you place an order, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your name, email, shipping address, and payment details directly. We never see or store your full card number. We may use Google Analytics to understand site traffic (pages viewed, general location, device type), which does not include your name or payment information.
We use the Meta Pixel to measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and to show our ads to people who have visited the site. It records actions such as page views and purchases, not your payment details.
How we use it
Your name and shipping address are shared with our fulfillment partner (CJdropshipping) solely to ship your order. Your email may be used to send order updates, respond to support requests, or, if you sign up, send deals and restock alerts you can unsubscribe from at any time. We do not sell your information to third parties.
Third parties involved in your order
Stripe (payment processing), CJdropshipping (order fulfillment and shipping), Google Analytics (site traffic analysis), and Meta (ad measurement). Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data.
Contact
When you use our contact form, checkout waitlist or email signup, the information you enter (like your name, email and message) is stored by our hosting provider (Netlify) so we can reply. We don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it any time.

Orders and pricing
All prices are listed in USD. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors before an order ships. By placing an order, you agree to pay the price shown at checkout.
How fulfillment works
Products ship directly from our fulfillment partner's US warehouses, not from a local storefront. See Shipping and returns above for delivery times.
Using fire and outdoor gear safely
Follow the instructions included with every product. Respect each item's stated weight limit. Use the fire pit and wood stove only outdoors, never inside a tent or vehicle, on a non-flammable surface, away from structures and overhanging branches, never leave a fire unattended, and follow local burn bans.
Payment
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details on our own systems.
Limitation of liability
Products are provided as described to the best of our knowledge. We are not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from product use, to the extent permitted by law.
